The espresso martini & some new age twists

When mixed correctly, the original recipe of Vodka, Coffee Liqueur, freshly drawn espresso & a touch of sugar syrup combine together to create one of the most delicious modern day classic cocktails known to man. For that reason, it is also one of the most asked for drinks in bars around the world today and also is one of the most popular for bartenders to put their own signature on as every venue strives to serve the best in town.

The following are a few examples of how you can re-create this stellar drink at home for your next get together. Some of the ingredients will require you prepare a day or so beforehand, but it will give you even more reason to “show off” your culinary skills!

As for the espresso part of the recipe, you have two different options; you can stroll down to your local café and bribe the barista just before he/she finishes the day to draw you off enough fresh espresso for your drinks. Please don’t ask your local café in the middle of breakfast service to make you 20 shots of coffee or you will probably have to find a new local to get your latte from. If you have a quality liquor store close by, ask them if they stock a cold drip coffee which is pre-prepared and ready to use for cocktails. Please don’t ever use instant/percolated style coffee as the flavour & consistency don’t work well with cocktails.
